Adsense works best on niche sites that are focussed on a specific topic or niche. Such niche websites allows Google to serve Ads related to that niche and visitors who are interested in that niche will visit again and again if the information provided is valuable to them. Profitable Niche: Make sure that the niche is centered around some high paying keywords. Ads that are displayed on such website tend to pay more money per click. So a website with moderate traffic on a good (read 'profitable') niche may earn you more money than a website with high traffic but in a poor niche.

Low Competition: Make sure that the niche you choose has little competition. If there is high competition for the niche you are working on, it will be very hard for you to appear in the first couple of pages of Google search results. Because search engines are main traffic drivers, it is important to be able to rank decently well on search results.
